This is one area where you don't want to skimp when it comes to quality of product and the way it works. Getting cheaper here could mean spending way more money down the line because it didn't clean the way the Nu-Calgon products clean. Especially when talking about your evaporator coil...because it is often hard to see exactly what you are doing when working on this coil while it is in place...you need a product you can trust to do the job well. I admit I had let our HVAC get dirty and had no maintenance for a few years...I know...no need to reprimand. Fortunately, I received a warning call before a total breakdown...so I got busy and cleaned both coils...indoor and out...as well as the blower inside. Wow! What a difference? My system is staying cooler and working less to achieve it. In this heat in Texas...we have been averaging just under 100 degrees F...but you wouldn't know it inside our home. And our electric bill has shown us appreciation for this job as well. Who knew you could stay this cool and lower your energy bill as well. Cannot beat this cleaner! HANDS DOWN!
I already reviewed this once. I give this high marks because it is very consumer friendly. Do not rinse after using it indoors, also works well on the outside coils with the unit off. Follow all directions and it will lower your utility bills and keep you cooler. Do rinse outside coils before turning the unit on but wait 15 minutes or so to give it best results.
This is one of the best AC cleaner solutions we have found on the market. Our home is older and tends to attract dust. We even have pets that poof everywhere!
Cleaning the AC units is a must as a preventative maintenance to keep our units running smooth and clean.
Works best when you take the extra time to take the unit apart to apply.
Not corrosive enough to damage your AC unit parts.
Safe enough to use mid season in the morning, before the need for AC really hits.
Great for home and office, around pets and children as it has a low odor.
We have used this cleaner for years on fixed and removable air conditioning units and we recommend it to family and friends that like to save money.
We recommend preseason use and mid season use for best results.
Have been using this product for years. Manage several apartment building and the maintenance guys swear by this stuff. Have tried several other products to clean the coils and have disappointed with the results. No flashy packaging or marketing gimmicks just works.
I filled a cheap garden pump, mixing the product with water as instructed. I removed the cover and then evap side covers and sprayed down the coil. I didn't do any scrubbing and the coil came out with a nice shine. I also sprayed around the inside of the plenum and the drip pan. Honestly, its harder to climb up into my attic than it is to clean with this product. I wish I could have bought a smaller quantity but I'll use the remainder outside on the compressor in the Spring.
Only advice I can give is to open windows when you turn on your air handler after cleaning. Otherwise, your house will fill with the smell of this cleaning product. The odor can be pretty strong.
Also, I read the warnings and wore painters overalls but next time I won't bother. I'll just use gloves and safety goggles.
Feature Product
- This is the highly concentrated version of the product and it should be diluted with water at a 3:1 ratio
- Evap Pow'r is a "no-rinse" product formulated for cleaning indoor evaporator coils
- It cleans and emulsifies the most stubborn soils and deposits, and is biodegradable as well as USDA-Authorized
Description
Directions of Use: 1. Turn off equipment and access evaporator coil. 2. If the coil is heavily soiled with lint, dirt, etc., use a brush to remove as much as possible prior to cleaning. 3. When using Evap Pow'r-C, prepare a cleaning solution in one of the quality Nu-Calgon sprayers, mixing one part of Evap Pow'r-C with three parts of water. 4. Be sure nearby registers are closed. Although the blower was turned off, natural air currents could pick up and entrain droplets of cleaning solution and this should be controlled. 5. Spray cleaning solution onto coils, being sure to lightly coat all surfaces. 6. Rinsing is not required, particularly where there is sufficient humidity being condensed from the ambient air to provide a flushing or rinsing action. Return system to service. 7. If rinsing is done, take the opportunity to treat coil with Cal-Shield, a Teflon surface protectant (4148-08).
Item arrived fast and was easy to mix in a pump sprayer. Shortly after application my coil was passing air much better, icing stopped and the A/C was able to cool the house much easier. The smell (kind of like a well known blue window cleaner) didn't last more than an hour or so after. It has to be mixed 3 parts water 1 part cleaning agent. I used distilled water to prevent any scale build up.
Works great on Fujitsu mini-split indoor wall-mounted units. Doesn't require rinsing. Doesn't have a toxic odor or anything. Reminds me almost of Simple Green but foams less and is formulated for the materials in your AC units.
My evap coil froze up to a solid block of ice. After defrosting it I completely I noticed it was very dirty and had been completely blocked with debris and a film of black scum. I read the reviews and thought would give this a try before calling a repairman over. Mixed it as according to directions and using a pump garden sprayer I thoroughly soaked the coil on both sides. The dirt just rolled off and began to look like new again. Although I didn't have to rinse it off I thought why not since I had access to it. Water easily passed through the fins and the aluminum was sparkling silver. So far so good, AC is running better than ever now.
We had never cleaned our coils and we have several dogs and our air conditioning wasn't working right this stuff cleaned the coils to bright and shinny.
Great for cleaning the coils on AC units. Just mix it per into your garden sprayer, apply liberally, wait a bit, and hose it off. Remarkable.
