Cold: We've been pretty happy with this unit. It keeps us nice and cool during the occasional 90+ days in northern California. Oddly, sometimes the compressor turns off before achieving the target temperature. Although I don't understand why this happens, we've been able to work around it by just lowering the target temp until it gets cool enough. E.g., usually we leave it set to 69 and the compressor cycles to keep it at 73. This four-degree discrepancy is weird, and I plan to follow up with NewAir about it, but other than that it's been great.
Window kit: Ours was missing the window kit even though the instruction manual and the packaging seemed to expect us to have it. We contacted NewAir through Amazon and they sent one out to us right away. It's pretty easy to set up, and after a while we realized that on no-AC days we could just leave the kit in the window and open the window anyway without it falling out. This may not work with everybody's windows, but I imagine it would be easy to rig up with some duct tape.
Size: The unit is bigger than I expected, but the listed dimensions are correct. One thing to note, however, is that the big tube for the window kit comes out of the *center* of the big flat side. So if you want to aim the vent into the center of your room, there's no way to push the other flat side up against the wall because the giant tube sticks out almost a foot. The tube itself also isn't overly long (and you're not supposed to extend it), so this means there's not a ton of flexibility in how it's positioned. It's worked out fine for us, but it's just a little more in-the-way than I'd prefer.
Volume: The unit is a little louder than I expected. That said, it's hard to imagine *any* AC unit producing this much air more quietly. I have no trouble conversing with other people in the same room, but it does challenge my MacBook speakers for the average YouTube video. Our AC isn't in the same room with our TV, but if it were then I'd have to turn up the volume significantly. This is fine in a place with thick walls, but in other places I've lived it would be challenging to watch TV without worrying about the volume disturbing the neighbors.
We use the AC in our bedroom so we don't have to cool the whole house at night. When it quit cooling and started freezing up I contacted the company and was told to return unit for repair or replacement. They wanted it in the original box which we didn't have any longer. I contacted them again and they were kind enough to send a shipping box. About the time I was going to contact them to see how soon we would get the unit back Fed Ex pulled up and there it was. I think it's a brand new unit but they didn't say if it was a repair or a replace so I'm not sure. I'm happy with the process and the customer service. It cools great and seems much quieter now. My warranty was three days from being expired!
Love that this air conditioner is portable. It was easy to install, and is quieter than our old window unit. It quickly removes the humidity from the air, helping the room to cool. All at a great sale price. No complaints at all. Seymone in customer service has checked to make sure we are happy with our purchase; which we are.
This was a great deal. I'm always skeptical when seeing a good value online, and assume the quality of the product might be compromised. In this case it could not be any more opposite. Cools the room quickly, has lots of different settings, and installation was simple -- easy enough for me to figure out without instructions. The unit is made well and sturdy, both mechanically and cosmetically. Given a second chance I would buy this same exact A/C unit.
Bottom Line this is the best 1200 BTU unit ever! I have owned other units and they were loud and heavy. I unpacked the unit myself and put it together. I am not handy at all. The customer service team is amazing and they go out of their way to make sure Im happy. This unit cools my rooms in my home so fast and effectively while maintaining a quiet environment. THIS UNIT IS A MUST HAVE!!!!!

Great portable AC unit that is relatively compact and has a very easy to read control panel located on top.
I also like the fact that there's a compartment that opens / closes to store the remote during the winter when you aren't using it so that doesn't get lost.
Have had it for over 1 year. liked it before but love it now. I never knew it had evaporative cooling and was draining it into a pail with it sitting on a rubbermaid step stool. Now I plugged the drain hole and it has been taking care of itself. With the pail setup I overflowed the pail a few times and soaked my wood floor. Like I said I love it now!
Really liking this AC. Much more powerful then our last one and its cooling down the main floor nicely. Actually thinking about getting another one to replace our old one upstairs. It has a really strong fan. We set up another fan behind it to speed up the cooling.
This unit offers a powerful fan and can heat or cool a 400+ square foot area easily. The window adapter could use a bit of weather stripping to give it a better seal but it really wasn't an issue in our window. It can automatically switch between heating and cooling which works great for Michigan where we sometimes need cooling and heating in the same day. No trouble with the louvers as others mentioned. The heat is very hot and the cooling is very cold. If used in an upstairs room or hallway you could easily cool an entire small house (<1400) in the summer with this unit.
Recently I placed it in my garage and keep the edge seasons tolerable in AZ. I don’t expect it to cool all the way, so I set it to 90 degrees. I was surprised how swamp coolers cost almost as much as an AC unit like this.
