NewAir Portable Evaporative Air Cooler with Fan & Humidifier, Indoor Tower Fan in Red, AF-1000R

With all of the negative reviews, I feel like I need to express how awesome this product is! I live in northern Montana where the summers are relatively short - but temps 2-3 months out of the year can soar into the 90s and occasionally low 100s. I considered buying an ac system a few years ago - but it seemed a little much considering it would only be used a couple of months per year. With the humidity being low in Montana, I started looking into the evap coolers- and fortunately gave one a try. We couldn’t be happier! By keeping the fan running with both water and ice in the tank our upstairs stays at a comfortable 73-75 degrees during the day (compared to the 80s when not used!). We’re now on our 4th summer using this new air cooler, and its still running strong! We have since gotten a 2nd/smaller ‘new air’ cooler for our bedroom which also works great. In fact, we’ve been so happy with our coolers that I have bought and given 3 of the AF-1000W away as wedding and birthday presents! So if you live in an area with low humidity - and relatively short, somewhat mild summers- I recommend giving this evap cooler a try!

I'm thinking the negative reviews are because some folks expect too much from this product.
Living in Arizona, with typically low humidity, the cooler works pretty well. In the house, it cools the family room off by about 4 to 6 degrees. It let's me turn my A/C up and still be comfortable. I also use it in my shop area which has no cooling. When the Arizona summer gets into triple digits, it does have a hard time keeping up with the heat.
I use it more as a personal cooler when I'm working out there and it does fine but don't expect it to cool a large space.

All in all, I'm pleased and would recommend this to anyone that wants to take the edge off the heat and help to lower your electric bill.

Okay, thought I'd leave a review for this one because it feels like we searched high and low for a portable cooler that would work. We live in Southern California near the coast, so our max temperature this year is around 92 to 93 degrees and sometimes there's no breeze. It works well for what we need, and cools a room of around 350 square feet.

When we first got it we tried closing all the windows and just using water - that didn't work too well and just made it warmer and muggy. Here's what does work: We leave the windows open. (One window open normally works, and on an especially hot day we leave two windows open.) Then, we add 4 to 6 ice packs from the freezer, along with cold water. Leave it on speed 2 for a bit (as stated in the instructions), we normally leave it on speed 2 for about 30 minutes, then amp it up to 3 and enjoy. It's typically made the room about 15 degrees cooler. And, if it's aimed towards you it feels cooler.

My best guess is that this is ideal for dry climates. It's definitely best with ice packs - we replace them once a day if it's a hot day. Bonus: Add some tea tree oil, or whatever you like to smell and it will fill the room.

Cons: You're not going to get icy cold air conditioner output, let that idea leave your mind. Think swamp cooler that brings down the temperature. Wish we could close the windows and get the same effect, but hasn't worked. Bulky, maybe get an interesting color that matches your decor if you want something that's just a little more stylish. The vents don't stay up - so we used a clear piece of tape at the top to make it happen. (There is an "OSC" feature that moves the vents from side to side, so I think that's why they don't stay up. I prefer the vents up though.)

Pros: Cools down the room for dry climate, especially when using ice packs.

I have it in my RV in the middle of the Sonoran desert for this summer..(2018) I have used it a few times so far and it has definitely cooled the RV down.. It has been 96 already this year .. How much actual help it will provide when it is 111 outside we will have to see, but it does blow a very good amount of air.. I mainly have used it on 1st speed because it is too cold and windy on 2nd or 3rd.. So when it gets really hot this year I have a feeling it will be more than adequate for my needs.. Glad I found it..

This thing works pretty good. I am very happy with it. Just remember that evaporative coolers do not work in humid areas. There are a lot of one star reviews from people in washington state and the east coast saying it doesnt work. It will not work if your humidity is above 50%. Also, I read a complaint about the wheels being terrible. The back wheels have locks on them. Make sure they are unlocked or its going to be hard to roll the thing around.

We use it to help cool an RV out in Arizona. As long as you keep a window in the opposite end slightly open it works pretty well, keeping temps in the 80's. If you don't the humidity builds quickly. When temps get above 100 we supplement with a small ac unit. We switched to the Aspen pads that are available at Home Depot and got better results. We typically go through about 5 gallons of water per day using it. Not too bad for something that uses a little more power than a laptop.

Easy to clean the dust catcher but must be off and unplug when include water . When you know it works you hear water drip the filter is wet and water level condenses. Do no clean if it's not unplug . To have humidity the icon has to be on wait
Fifteen minute to verify if it works. If you need help to lift a second person is needed gloves too and water resistant shoes if an error happens. Gently clean the dust catcher. To prevent water spills use the top water cover filñ when no glove used why its slippery and lighter Weight the icon of humidity has to be press if not then its a fan only. Do not clean the dust catcher if its on must be unplug all parts replace correctly then plug in and press on icon or the icon this ítem uses. This prevents error from motor damage .

This unit was quick and easy to set up. We filled the tank with ice and pre chilled water, and it keeps our bedroom nice and cool. We live in southern Mississippi, and this unit does the job for us, as our home has no ac unit right now. I DO wish the water reservoir was removable so we could use blue ice, but that's the only drawback we've come across. The remote control is a very helpful feature.

Works well, fairly quiet, in use all day every day for about a month or so and no problems. In use in a low humidity climate so i can't speak to it's usefulness in humid environs. Looks 'invisible' which is what i wanted. If i had to move it around full of water i might worry about the casters breaking but mine stays put. I might buy another!

Using in a lab. Does increase humidity but works exceptionally well at cooling down an area. Great price to when comparing with other Units.
