I love it!
Loved it until the fan quit working. Other models of evaporative coolers empty quickly and create too much extra humidity. This unit only needs refilling every 10-12 hours in a high 80s mid 40s to upper 60s humidity environment. Coupled with a fan or two it makes an upstairs small room feel very comfortable. . Fans circulating air and this on the desk or night stand worked great. Then the fan stopped working after a refill. Knocking the side of the unit lightly the fan worked thru another cycle. Now the fan won’t budge. It is only a week or so old.
=> IDEAWORKS: how to fix this?? I ordered a 2nd fan before this one quit & plan to get more if there is a fix for the fan.
FYI - what to expect: low velocity barely noticeable air flow next to the unit, but cooling of the air from a couple feet to 6+ feet away. With an air multiplier type fan the cooler air is circulated and cooled more such that after 30 mins or so the entire space feels cooler. Ice & ice water make it seem cooler near the unit initially but just cool tap water makes a similar cooling difference over time. On a desk 2’ away it cooled me enough to feel ‘cool’ in an upstairs office w/o AC when it was 99 outside. I had a small Dyson across the room blowing air at my back that also circulated the cooler air from the Kool Down. Cooler air circulating means cooler air intake thus even cooler air out. The humidity output is very low. One on either side of the bed with a fan or small dehumidifier works well
What not to expect: this unit to output the same amount of air as a desk fan - that would mean blowing water everywhere which you don’t want. Also it will only feel as cool as an AC if the air intake is air conditioned air. It isn't an AC.
Now, if only the mfg will replace the dead fan units with working units, at least this one customer would be happy!
