It's been sweltering in Seattle, far above our normal temperatures. Me being a heat wimp and not sleeping well due to the heat, I decided to finally bite the bullet and purchase a portable air conditioner. (Our apartment complex forbids window units.) After doing some research, I chose this little unit.

I can say we chose well! It's gotten our bedroom livable on 93 degree days, lowering the temperature in the room down to 73. At night, it's gotten our room down into the 60s, which helped both of us sleep much better than sweating through 80 degree nights. Even though the window unit doesn't fit perfectly into our window, a little duct tape did the trick to seal things up. I'm not sure what other reviewers are talking about with the hot tubing for the vent though. It gets warm, but you guys made it sound like it was getting hot enough to be dangerous. It gets warm, sure, but not enough to even heat that part of the room up.

Only downside is that it is a bit noisy. But before we bought this, we had two fans going on full blast all night. This unit is quieter than that, but it can be a little loud. I'd suggest just wearing earplugs when you have to sleep with it on, and that should solve the problem. That's what I did, and I slept like a temperate climate baby.

One last note. The little grate thing the instructions want you to connect to the exhaust tubing? It's stuck in a little space in the styrofoam the unit is sitting in. Then you just have to twist the cover off to get the piece the instructions want. That part is not intuitive, and caused some YouTube sleuthing. Oh, and the box lifts right off the unit. I found that out the hard way.

So far so good! Received this AC unit sooner than expected, like within two days which was exciting! I've done a bit of research on AC units and which one would be pretty energy efficient. This one was on my top lists of pulling the least killawatts an hour. Our central AC unit is costing us 500$ a month to run so I wanted to try this out to cool our master bedroom down and use it kind of like a "cooling center"
We will be putting a doggy door in the bedroom door so the dogs can have a cool space to go to as well during the day. I was able to instal it fairly simple all by myself, I will be getting weather stripping for the window to help deal out the hot air. Our bed room was about 90 degrees when I first started it, I set it to 70 but it had only gotten down to 72. I'm not entirely to sure why. It is still much more comfortable than 90! It took a few hours to climb down to 80. The manual says it takes a good few hours. I noticed having other fans running messes with the temperature and the unit does best solo without any other fans running. I wish it would cool down faster that's why I gave it four stars. I'll give in update to tell you guys the average energy consumption this unit pulls in a few days!

I really needed a small unit for my room because the owner of the house where I live turns off the AC @ 7am sharp and doesn't turn it on till 8pm sharp. I live in FL where it's super hot and my room's an oven. It's only been a few days and it's 85-90 outside and my rooms about 175-210 square foot and this keeps me cool @75 all day long.

Just arrived and so far I'm delighted by this product! The biggest surprise was how quiet it is, especially when the fan is on low; very easy to live with. It also seems to be extremely efficient, as it cooled a very hot bedroom in just an hour or so. Debating whether to permanently install it with through-the-wall exhaust - likely will do this.

Other pluses: Good-looking and compact with a filter that is easy to clean. Arrived quickly.

I selected this version as I did not want to have to redo the electrical circuit to the bedroom. Received ours along with a window extension kit I also ordered. As I suspected our sliding window is too tall for the stock window kit so this was a good move. I did have to cut the extension kit to fit but it was easy and quickly done.Setup was also easy and quick. Nothing was missing and the instructions were very clear. It cooled our second story 10 x 18 town house bedroom very well.

Noise wise, we were worried a bit by some of the comments so we were pleasantly surprised as the noise level is very much acceptable (much less than in many hotels LOL).

Based on some feedback we read, we did take some precautions and laid out a large garbage bag then a towel on top ... just in case we have water. We live near the coast in California so we don't need AC that much so this unit in the bedroom helps a lot during the hot spells we have. As it's not as humid as "Florida" (were we relocated from), we don't anticipate water issues ... but just in case, we placed some protection under the unit..

I unboxed the AC this morning and it is working quite well so far. In about an hour, my room temperature dropped from 82 to 78. I set the temp to 75, and it has stayed at 78 for the last 45 min.

I like the compactness of the machine. It's interesting to note that another review complained about the machine not being compact enough. Come on and let's be realistic: this is an air conditioner and 'compactness' is relative. This unit is smaller, lighter than the small unit I saw at Costco, and at $130 less, it works great for my need.

One thing that is noticeable is the sound of the fan. I have it set to low and it is not that quiet. It doesn't bother me, but I can see how it might sound noisy for other people. Again, how do you expect the AC to push out cold air without a powerful enough fan to deliver? It is quitter than my house AC, and at a fraction of energy cost, it is worth it.

I purchased this for a relatively small bedroom (around 10x15) in the hopes of keeping the room cool during the summer. Within a few hours of being turned on for the first time, it reduced the ambient temperature by ten degrees, and there was a very marked difference when walking out of the room it occupied - I kept it behind a closed door, so as to reduce heat load. Once the rest of the apartment cooled down via window fans, it was able to lower the ambient temperature down even further. Usually I have it set to 65 degrees, where it happily remains for pretty much all of the day. The thermostat's lowest reading was 60. It has made the room cold enough to require a blanket while sleeping and does a wonderful job of dehumidifying as well. It is capable of running for days at a time, and even on humid days does not need to be emptied. I tilted it back the first two nights to empty out water, but despite that, no water came out of the drain. It is a bit noisy, and for people who have trouble sleeping close to constant machine whirs and compressor engages, it might not be a wise idea to keep it in a bedroom, but I got used to it within a night and now barely notice it. The wheels are a nice touch, as it is very portly and weighs a fair amount. If I had to purchase a second portable air conditioner unit, I would purchase another of these.

Works exactly as described. The measurements were accurate. I rent out my basement as an in-law apartment. It recently was terrible hot in the Northeast so I had to do something. It's able to cool a 500 square-foot space down to below 70 when it's really hot outside. keeping in mind I air condition the other parts of my house and the space is underground. I knew going into it that the machine wasn't going to fit my windows because they are basement 15in by 30 windows. I was able to make a quick template and seal it with some caulk and then use special tape meant for sealing windows. Works for now, more permanent solution will be moving it to the dehumidifiers location and vent out with laundry. Also my home is old and it's wired poorly so the minimal amperage draw on my circuits allows for everything to run and not kick off the power every 5 minutes.

Good price compared to other similar units. Does a good job of keeping a small room (slightly less than 200 sq ft) cool all day. Example: 95° in the rest of the house, room with AC is between 78°-80° with the unit set at 79°...practically Antarctica! I keep the fan setting on high for the first hour or so and then back it down to medium for the rest of the day. Had some slight odor issues (like stinky feet) after the first few days of use but that seems to have dissipated after draining the water reservoir (even though the light did not come on that tells you to do so). I keep the window closed and locked at night but it's easy to install and remove the vent hose thingy so that's helpful. I guess my only complaint so far is the fan noise, which should be quieter in my opinion but you get used to it after awhile and compared to not having any AC at all, it's really not so bad. This is my only experience with a portable AC unit so I really have nothing to compare it to in a real-world setting. Overall, I'm satisfied with this unit and am hopeful that it runs for many years to come without any issues.

Great little air conditioner for a bedroom or other small room. The snap in exhaust hose installs easily in sharp contrast to AC's of this type that I've owned in the past. It took maybe 10 minutes to set up, then it started pumping out nice cold air. Remote control with batteries supplied (Duracells... not cheap generic batteries). Fan and / or dehumidifier only mode as well as cooling.
