Its the filter and its close to changing, I get hot flashes at night and when the house and outside stabilize, my room at the end of the a/c gets so warm and this really keeps me cool they are not really whisper quiet but I have humidifyer in the room and can't hear out of right ear so is not a problem, gave the other to friend and she says its very quiet. I use speed 2, highly recommend
