Luma Comfort Portable Evaporative Air Cooler with Fan & Humidifier, Indoor Tower Fan, EC111B

These coolers are a life saver where we live in the southwest US. It is true that it will not cool more than one room but where ever you choose to put it you will see a major difference. I use mine in my bedroom which was unbearable until I got this cooler. Now I actually am back to using a blanket or it's too cold. I am running it on medium speed and would turn it to low if it wasn't for the dog who gives me dirty looks when I go there.

Works! Not entirely impressed with its cooling capabilities despite being in an optimal area for it (according to their map) so 4/5. Pretty quiet. Full array of typical fan features. Water tank lasts about 6-8hrs before needing a refill. It's best to leave it on throughout the day to keep the temp down rather than turning it on when it's already too hot.

Cools things down. I am a BSME, so the nature of this (we studied these in thermodynamics) is a "swamp cooler" albeit a very eloquent one, so use in low humidity (LA, AZ, NM, NV). I bought it for our house in Arizona and it worked so well cooling me down and adding some refreshing moisture to that unbearable dry air. Loved it so much I took it back to LA, use it to cool the master bath and use it as a fan. I plan to buy a 2nd for the AZ house. Love this sleek thing that beautifully implements the "swamp cooler" concept from thermodynamics. BUY if you live in the dry Southwest and you will fall in love. Uses only as much electricity as a 100 watt light bulb. Has a nice white noise soothing sound

I live in Las Vegas, middle of the Mojave desert, so in the ideal location for an evaporative cooler. Though my air conditioning keeps most of the house cool, we have cathedral ceilings in the bedroom, so the worst room in the house to stay hot, stays hot. Purchased this unit, and it works like a charm. I no longer have to sleep over the covers, and still wake up sweaty multiple times in the night. I can sleep UNDER the covers, and on occasion, I've woken up because I'm too cold!

My only issue with this unit, and why it's four instead of five stars (I'd give it four and a half, if I could), is because when the water level gets too low, it gets loud! It makes a sucking noise (which sounds like grinding) when the water reaches it lowest level, before it turns itself off. This is very difficult, if impossible, to sleep thru. The water reservoir lasts about 7 1/2 hours. So, it's great if you sleep about 7 hours, fill it up just before bed, and you're great. But, if you wish to sleep longer than that (who doesn't like to sleep in on the weekend?), you will be rudely awakened, before you really are ready or want to get up.

Make the reservoir a little larger (9 hours maybe), or make the sensor better, so the unit turns itself off before the water level gets too low, so you are not woken up, this would be an ideal, five start item!

Bought this for my 87 yr old Mom who lives in San Diego. Her house does not have AC. This easy to use, portable cooler is a godsend. It has an easy fill reservoir and the settings are clear and easy to use. It blows out cool air. It was 99 degrees outside and humid. I walked into her house an was perfectly comfortable. It has exceeded our expectations. This cools about 600 sq ft. Basically the front half of her house. In the evening we close off the front half of the house and she turns it to cool the bedrooms.
My Mom is 4'7" and weighs 77lbs and she can move it easily. It is not large and clunky. It costs less than us running fans in every room and still not feeling comfortable. About 60 dbs. Not annoying sound.

There's been much discussion about whether or not this evaporative cooler (and evaporative coolers in general), are effective or not. I can attest that this has helped cool down my condo unit to more tolerable temperatures quite handily, even though I live in a slightly more humid environment (the Pacific Northwest) than recommended for use of evaporative coolers. It still managed to blow cooler air around than my old fan did, and the cooled air itself almost had a similar feel/smell as air conditioning! Adding ice packs to the water tank is definitely helpful for cooling, so it's ideal to have extra ice packs in the freezer at all times to cycle through. The water tank lasts about 5-6 hours of use, which is enough to get through a hot night. It's relatively light/portable, and style design-wise is quite reasonable as well.
Worth the buy compared to what other evaporative coolers have to offer, price-wise, in my opinion.

its working perfectly as advertised! My mom has a luminar one so I decided to get this one. Same product, different models and names but they work the same. Remote control is the same too. Summer's on and I know its gonna be a lot more bearable with my new AC fan!

The rotating grill fell and I tried all the glues to put it back in place impossible. It doesn't work the unit under warranty have to be replaced.
NewAir agreed to replace the Unit cooler defective. Thanks.

This is a good little water cooler. I grew up with "swamp coolers" so I'm very familiar with them. This unit has good features for the price and the portability makes it great for cooling only certain rooms or areas.
I've recommended it to a few friends already and am considering purchasing an additional unit for myself.

Does the cooling, water needs filling every four hours.
