Daikin 9,000 BTU 17 SEER Wall-Mounted Ductless Mini-Split Inverter Air Conditioner Heat Pump System 15 Ft. Installation Kit & Wall Bracket (230 Volt) 10 Year Limited Warranty

Took about 9 days to deliver the product to California. However, the item arrived well packaged and carefully delivered. So far it works well I'm using the mini split system for a home addition which does not have an attict. During the summer the room gets really hot. Up to 20 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. What's more my central ac system does a poor job at cooling the area. So I closed off the Central ac vent to the room and began using the split ac. So far with room temperatures of around 90 degrees, it has cooled well. Also it has cooled accurately and according to the settings. So if I set the cooling at 78 degrees, it feels like 78 degrees inside the room. Currently I'm happy with the product. However the true test will be this summer when room temperatures get outrageous. I will provide another review when that happens. FYI- this is a way better buy than those pioneer systems being sold at similar prices- Daikin is of better quality.

Love these Daikin units, very quiet and super efficient at a great price point. Shipping was fast and received undamaged. With the 10 year warranty, can't go wrong.

As expected

The unit came in packed very well. Everything needed for installation come with the unit. We had it installed and it works wonderfully. Would definitely buy again.
The unit does come precharged.

It's a great unit for a addition.

All in all, this is a great buy. That said, there are some negatives. The first is while the line sets are exactly 15’ as advertised and if you plan properly that is fine, but the wire harness is also 15’, so when you install the indoor unit the tubing sticks out of the wall over a foot effectively making the line set 16’, and the wire becomes too short! Since you are not permitted to splice line voltage without a J box that adds a headache, but more importantly you are not permitted (by Daikin) to splice the signal wire between the indoor and the outdoor unit. I suggest the vendor spring for a few cents and include another foot or two of #14/4 wire to ease installation.

Second, the Daikin instruction book is terrible. Sometimes the translation is poor, but in fact there are some critical omissions. For example, taking the door off is simple once you figure it out, but figuring it out from the instructions is nearly impossible. More importantly, you have to remove the outer cover to run the wiring and nowhere in the manual does it tell you how. Once again, (it is not intuitive!) once you figure it out (two simple screws and a couple of clips and it pops right off. Also they don’t provide either a template or a scale drawing on where to drill the the wall hole relative to the mounting plate (for various configurations). It takes a some calculations and some guess work AND it has to be right or the unit won’t hang on the wall properly. If you do miss with the hole, it is far easier to move the mounting plate a bit rather than trying to drill a new hole.

Third a number of things were missing in my package (they are now shown on the current Amazon listing. The first was the through wall sleeve, the second was the condensate drain tubing and the final was the assembly lube. All but the lube can be had locally for a few dollars, but it would be nice to have them.

These are not hard to install, but unless you are a pretty competent DIY guy I don’t suggest you do it. At the very least, you will need a pro to purge the linesets with nitrogen and then evacuate properly, something even very experienced DIY people can’t readily do. These are not “plug and play units”. As note, I am a custom home builder with years of DIY and professional experience with all sorts of stuff (and a pretty handy guy) so...buyer beware. One other thing, make sure you measure you location and determine the line set length properly as you really don’t want to have to shorten them (and you can’t easily lengthen them either). Remember, they stick out of the back of the unit (assuming a right side rear exit) about 1’.

I hired a HVAC guy to purge and evac mine for a couple hundred dollars. It seems to work quite well on first tests, and it is amazingly quiet both inside and outside.
