OK - I needed to write this 5-star review just to offset some of the other outliers on this review page.
I love this A/C unit and have had no problem with it. I've owned it about a month now, and it has helped get us through some of the nauseatingly hot/humid days that have plagued us on the East Coast this summer. I don't know how or why the poor woman in NYC had water leaking in from the unit, but it sounds like an installation problem (in the video, the unit isn't even turned on) I have had this unit operating in my window the past two days in TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS with no problems. (And my house is a "split" with the primary living area upstairs. Meaning, the A/C unit is installed directly under the roof line)
As to the other concern re: fan noise, I say this: It's a fan. It's not silent. But it's also well within the "norm" sound level of any other unit I've purchased during the last decade.
Finally - the Energy Star rating is bonfire. I just got my electrical bill reflecting this units constant use during the past month of summer heat. It shows a negligible increase and a rating of my power usage being lower than most other neighbors in my development (yes, our bills give that detailed a level of analysis!).
Energy efficiency, great cooling capacity, modern compact design and reasonable price. I'd say that's a winning combination.
Thanks Frigidaire!
Took a little while to receive but no damage whatsoever I’ll take it.Really like the remote that senses the temp. It’s a 107 here during the day so this makes it tolerable.
I'll give this AC four stars because on the few super hot days we get here at the beach - it is a life saver. I'm using it to cool the bottom level of an apartment. We have a small living room and connected kitchen. This is enough to cool it all down nicely all day long. Even on low, it creates quite a noise. The adjustable vent on the front is the crappiest I've ever used. After forcing it up and over, I did get airflow where I want it, however. The controls are a little frustrating with the remote. The temp on the remote is not calibrated well. All that said... Easy set up and cool air. Can't beat that. Price was right for higher BTU's.
So far so good. I just received this Fridgidaire FFRE0833U1 A/C today and I am really happy with it so far. I actually purchased a GE Smart A/C last week from Lowe's in which I will be returning tomorrow because it was absolutely awful, it was very loud (A lot of noises that a brand new A/C shouldn't be making..), would run just about continuously even with the eco saver on and it wasn't cooling well at all, junk!
So anyway, I purchased this Fridgidaire to replace the GE I bought last week..
This Fridgidaire is SO MUCH BETTER :)
The fan is very powerful and cools very well with even just the regular fan function. I currently have it on eco cool with the fan speed on medium 72 and it's freezing. I had it on the eco cool with the fan speed on low and that was really plenty to cool my 250 square foot room.. but I've been testing each setting out. High is really high, too cold for me at the moment but I'm sure it's going to be perfect on a really hot and humid summer day/night. The eco saver on this unit is awesome and when it shuts down or starts up it does it smoothly and quietly.
In addition to all of that, it looks nice, it runs quieter than any unit I've had and it seems to be really well made (like it'll last for years)
Love it ♡♡♡♡♡ 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗😊😊😊😊😊
I honestly don't understand how anyone could've given it a poor review 🤔
So far, everything seems to be working ok.
The thing I am unhappy about is the air direction louvers. The user manual stated the air direction louvers would direct the air Up or Down and Left or Right; however, the louvers only move Left or Right, no movement up or down available. I don't care for direct air flow on me so this is somewhat inconvenient. Even the Left to Right positions still allow enough direct air flow straight ahead.
In my area, it is still early in the cooling area, so I will have to see how the unit performs during our mid-summer heat.
I don't have a roof eave so the rain hits it full force. I had to actually caulk along the flexible side panels where it attached to the unit, and tape from window frame down over the top rail. There are no drainage holes on the bottom so a fair amount of rain water stays inside the unit.

2 months in an no problem at all - Great product it covers my 600 sq feet studio
I was really skeptical based on some of the reviews I saw but I gotta say this 8kBTU AC was more than enough for my room. Cools very fast, Frigidaire is the way to go!
love this AC, new favorite unit. love the temperature sensing remote. it is on the louder side, but not that much then other window units. when my other older window unit goes bad, I will buy another one of these to replace it also.
Is it easy to install?? YES
Does it cool down quickly and effectively? Yes
Easy to understand? Yes
Remote works
Sound like you may be sleeping in the middle of the Airport runway?? Absolutely 100%
Will you get used to it? Maybe I'm used to city noise so I'm ok with it the rest of you maybe. But I also just used it for the first time yesterday since we had a storm and 80degree weather is in effect.
Good luck
