in the past 6 years, I have built 18 walk-ins, reach-ins, and one large enough to accommodate a forklift..have always used an LG AC( if that helps)..have never had a single complaint, nothing but flawless, maintenance-free operation..just spoke with the owner of the first project from 2009 and was told he loves it..has never touched the controls since I set them the day we started it up..his praise was mostly responsible for convincing the other owners to have theirs built
Oh yeah rite...with an air conditioner?!!...That's the skeptic in me...SOB the thing really and truly works..hats off to the guy who invented this thing..42 degree cooler temp in under 4 hours starting from 84 degree ambient temp.. Better than I expected :)
simple to hook up works as advertised. The room I constructed for cooling venison is 3w by 8 L by 7H . I set the cool bot for 40 degrees using a small LG air conditioner. It is too warm in ct. in September to hang bow harvested deer outside, heat, and yellow jackets, the cool bot set at 40 degrees bottomed out at 43 which is great, you have to remember the sensor hangs at the half way height of the room so it is even cooler at the floor. Also if I caulk better with some low expansion foam every crack and cranny and maybe hang a curtain in the door way I can pick up another couple degrees of cooling. I used R32 fiberglass with insulating panels for the walls.I am very happy with the product it is worth the price of admission!
I have a small flower shop with an 8 x 10 walk in cooler. Valentine's day and Mother's day have always been hard with just one cooler. I got a cool bot and absolutely love it! I installed it in the room where the cooler is. It's a 6 x 12 room with a 10,000 btu window unit. It kept the temperature down to 40 for a week and a half, with no issues. I cannot believe I waited so long to get one. It was worth every penny. Took 15 minutes to hook up.
For florist shops needing that extra cooler for those big holidays, events, etc. you can't beat it!
Works exactly as advertised, but even better than expected. I purchased this with confidence as I know several brewery owners that use CoolBots. The biggest thing to keep in mind is this device is just a part of what you need to make an inexpensive cooler. You have to follow their directions and build your cooler correctly. The website, storeitcold.com is chocked full of helpful information about building a cooler. It's very thorough and walks you through everything you will need to do. I used this for an ambulance I converted into a mobile cooler. I strictly followed the instructions on insulating and air conditioner selection. I'm pleased it works better than I thought it would. My cooler chills much quicker than I expected, even with it being in the nineties outside and humid, and recovers as quickly as my larger commercial indoor cooler. It dropped from 92 to 40 in a little under 3 hours. I haven't even installed a strip curtain yet. In testing, I even held it much colder than I need with no problems. As for the reviewers saying this is overpriced or something you could just make yourself, I disagree. The fin sensor that detects freezing and allows the air conditioner to defrost is what makes this thing so effective and more sophisticated than anything I could build myself.

How it works
The CoolBot drops the temperature of a well-insulated room to as low as 34ºF without freezing up the air conditioner fins. It's truly DIY -- you can set it up in 2 to 3 minutes, with no tools or electrical knowledge required.
What you need
All you need to create a DIY walk-in cooler is a well-insulated room, a CoolBot, and a standard window or mini-split air conditioner with digital controls. The CoolBot works with several major brands of air conditioners. Visit our website to learn more.
Application information
CoolBots are best suited for fully enclosed rooms with at least R25 insulation (~4" of rigid foam) where the door is opened fewer than 6 times per hour. If the insulation is less than 4" or the door is opened more than 6 times per hour, the temperature will be in the low 40s.

I made a walk in cooler for both vegetables and to hang meat to age. I installed the Coolbot along with a new window air conditioning unit. The system works as good as the product information stated. I can get the room down from 65 to 36 degrees in about 45 minuets. And it keeps the room between 36 to 38 degrees with no problem. Very easy to install and even easier to program. What a great device.
We ran out of storage for our kegs of beer so turned the beer storage room into a walkin cooler. at first worked for a few days then quit so mgr called and trouble shot the CoolBot problem and they over nighted him a faulty wire and now cooling to 40*. great service to resolve problem and all happy at my lodge with increase in cold storage!!
Works like a charm and easy to install. Nothing else does what this does for the price I built a walk in for hanging deer during warm or freezing weather. It's really just a closet in my garage, with insulated walls and an insulated door. The CoolBot keeps the temperature right. After years of having to butcher a deer late at night because it was too warm or setting up a series of heaters because the meat froze, i am loving my new walk in box with my CoolBot
I needed to make a cold storage room and didn't want to spend 5 figures to acheive that. I ordered this and a window air conditioner and installed the CoolBot. It took a little fiddling around but it's been working perfectly for 4 months. It maintains a constant 37 degrees without fail. The instructions are very helpful for fine tuning it.
Sure beats buying traditional compressor for walk in coolers. We have been using coolbot in all of of walk in coolers for years now. The price has gone up from when we first bought them for 199.00 but it is still well worth it when you consider what you pay for compressors. I think most people don't understand what they really are. They turn standard wall mounted A/C into a compressor to keep your cooler cold. When you do have an issue or something needs replacing they have great customer service and walk you through fixing or replacing yourself. Best thing we have come across in a long time.
